Katherine Maccagnone

Katie is the Executive Director for the Toledo Early Head Start/Head Start Program at Clever Bee Academy.  Katie started in 2013 when she led the team to launch the current Head Start in Toledo.  She is responsible for all programmatic aspects of the Head Start Program.  In her role, Katie supports over 400 children and 100 professionals to create supportive learning environments to aid in closing the achievement gap.  

 

Katie has 20 years of experience in the Early Childhood field.  She attended the University of Toledo, earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Katie started her career working abroad in Germany working with Toddlers and Preschoolers.  She then worked at the YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral where she assisted programs in over sixteen counties to enhance the quality of care, they provided for birth to school-age children.  While there she coordinated the Step Up to Quality Program.   In this position, she organized state-approved training and technical assistance.  She attended state meetings, served on various ECE committees, and wrote state-approved trainings. Katie is a huge advocate for young children.  She met locally with state representatives and traveled to Washington DC to meet with state representatives and Senators to advocate for young children.
